Watable, but the underlying message isn't a good one. That's my core takeaway from "Jack Ryan: Ghost War". Yes, by all means, watch this film as a basic, wholly familiar and predictable but nonetheless enjoyable action romp. Expect decent pacing, lots of action and mildly engaging characters. All that said, pushing the notion that doing horrible things to people is somehow redeemable based on the notion of keeping the world "safe" isn't good on any level. As we are seeing, the US's belief in its primacy has led to countless deaths and seemingly endless wars. In summary, quite watchable when viewed as a formulaic action flick, but the message it's trying to push is an ugly one, absent a solid moral grounding.

74/100 Typical Clancy espionage thriller where Ryan must meet up with an agent and, as they say in the film, "It's never just about meeting someone". This is a pretty basic action thriller with a lot of the usual tropes, cliches and no surprises but it moved along at an exceptional pace, the characters were great, the dialogue was crisp with a few LOL moments and the action, although not remarkable compared to today's standards, was exciting and thrilling. Overall, it felt a bit rushed, like a cake that was pulled out of the over too soon, but we had a good time watching it. -- DrNostromo.com
